It’s been there for maybe a week or 2. I can’t remember. But it wants me to “Update to the latest version of Windows 10”. It looks legit, but I can’t find anything about it online. Intel begins shipping Itanium 2 processors

One of the most anticipated events of the year has taken place: Intel today announced that hardware systems and software packages with support for the Intel Itanium 2 processor will be available for sale in the coming days. Intel Itanium 2 Processor Commercial Shipments Already Started Worldwide.

Intel Itanium 2 is the second member of the Intel Itanium processor family. Intel Itanium processor family specifically designed to serve high-end enterprise applications. Intel Itanium 2 processor is hardware compatible with two future generations of Intel Itanium processor family.

Intel Itanium family processors are supported by Microsoft Windows operating systems; Hewlett-Packard HP-UX; Linux by Caldera, MSC.Software, Red Hat, SuSE and TurboLinux. In addition, Microsoft plans to release versions of Windows.NET Datacenter and Enterprise Server for the Intel Itanium 2 processor, and HP intends in the future to provide versions of its OpenVMS and Non Stop Kernel operating systems optimized for all processors of this family.

Intel Itanium 2 processor will be supported by Intel E8870 chipset, which is scheduled for release this fall. The chipset is capable of supporting two to 16 processors in one system. In addition, some OEMs are going to present their own chipsets, which will go on sale this summer.

Intel will also offer a structure-forming component platform based on the Intel Itanium 2 processor to OEMs and product integrators. This platform – SR870BN4 – will be released in the second half of this year; it supports four processors, has a modular design, and is designed for use in high-density enterprise HPC environments.

Intel Itanium 2 processors come with 3MB or 1.5MB L3 cache, 900MHz and 1.2GHz clock speeds (not a typo, official company data), priced from $ 1338 to $ 4226.
