Sony’s new Vaio Bio Note GR
Sony unveils several high-end Bio Note GR series notebooks, three of which are based on Pentium 4-M and one, PCG-GR5N / BP, based on Pentium III-M.
The first model, PCG-GRX81G / P, is based on Pentium 4-M with a clock speed of 1.7 GHz, chipset: Intel i845 MP, has a 16-inch TFT LCD screen supporting resolutions up to 1600×1200, 512 MB DDR SDRAM and a video adapter Mobility Radeon 7500 with 32MB VRAM, 40GB hard drive and 8/16/10/24 combo DVD / CD-RW drive. As for the possibilities for connecting peripheral devices, here Sony has sold out in earnest: there are 2 PCMCIA connectors, a Memory Stick card reader, a 100Base-TX Ethernet adapter, V.90 modem, 3 USB ports, one IEEE 1394 port and audio / video output. Laptop size: 325x270x40 mm, weight: 3.3 kg. Battery life from the built-in battery: 2.5-3 hours. PCG-GR5N / BP will cost 240,000 yen ($ 1,880). The laptop comes preinstalled with Windows XP Home Edition and Office XP.
