IXBT company.com announces the launch of a new CPU project.RightMark, the result of which is the creation of a set of measurement tests for an objective assessment of the health and performance of processors.
CPU RightMark (CPU RM) test is designed to objectively measure the performance of modern and future CPUs in various computing tasks, such as: numerical simulation of physical processes and solving problems in the field of 3D graphics. The main emphasis is on testing under load the CPU-RAM bundle and FPU / SIMD blocks.
As a fully open collaborative project, CPU.RightMark has two ideas. The first is trying to create valid, trustworthy tests. The second is the ability to control the test results and the principle of its operation by independent experts, since the source code of all tests is open.
To correctly measure the performance of the latest processors, tests that take full advantage of all the innovations are required. Additional extensions of processor instructions, architectural features. Otherwise, it will simply not be possible to adequately measure performance on new applications. The CPU RightMark benchmark fully meets all of the listed requirements. And thanks to the open source code, the test can always be quickly modified to support any innovations in the processors.
This version of the test is not designed to work with SMP systems, but future versions, as planned, will support this feature.
CPU RM contains two blocks: calculating the physical model and displaying the scene. Each block has different options, optimized for different processor instruction systems. The calculation of the physical model has two options: using SSE2 and using FPU, since numbers of double type are used in the calculation.
The project is completely independent and non-profit. This guarantees the impartiality and objectivity of the test system. The source codes of the test are in open form and are available to everyone for review. Moreover, if you have ideas for improving and developing this test, we are always ready to discuss it and help with the implementation.
