Epson Announces PIM II – Second Generation PRINT Image Matching

Epson, the creator of PIM (Print Image Matching), has announced the next generation of a standard called PRINT Image Matching II (PIM II).

The main purpose of the P standard.I.M. II, like its predecessor – automatic optimization of digital photos by cameras that support PIM II before printing them. Compared to the first version, PIM II has been enriched with a wider possibility of setting parameters – now there are 14 of them (plus 2 to the previous version). Settings have been replenished with the ability to adjust the settings for noise reduction and custom scene. In addition, PIM II, in addition to JPEG, now also supports the TIFF (RGB) format.

Currently, PIM-enabled products are supported by 16 manufacturers with 38 products – digital cameras, photo printers and software from ArcSoft, Pentax, Casio, JVC, Konica, Kyocera, Matsushita Electric, MGI, Minolta, NewSoft, Nikon, Olympus, Ricoh, Sanity Software, Sanyo Electric, Sony, Toshiba and Ulead Systems.
