Utilities: Intel Application Accelerator v.2.2 Beta Candidate 1.0 Build 2119
Developer – Intel
Installing Intel Application Accelerator (IAA) allows you to accelerate the launch of applications in Windows 98 / 98SE / ME / NT / 2000 / XP on computers based on Intel 810 / 810E / 810E2, 815 / 815E / 815EP / 815P, 820 / 820E chipsets, 830M / 830MP / 830MG, 840, 845 / 845MP, 850 and 860. IAA is the successor to the Intel Ultra ATA Storage utility and is based on the UDMA driver from the chipset manufacturer. Actually, it is not the startup process itself that is accelerated (this is a consequence), but the speed of data exchange between the computer’s hard disk and the Bus Master IDE controller of the chipset. IAA includes a diagnostic utility (IAA diagnostic utility), which provides the user with detailed information about the disk subsystem of the PC, including IDE HDD, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW, CD-R and Removable media. In addition to the diagnostic module itself, it includes two utilities – Automatic Acoustic Management (AAM) and Advanced Power Management (APM), for working with most modern HDDs. AAM can reduce the noise level emitted by PC hard drives, but you will have to pay for a comfortable and quiet operation with a decrease in performance. APM serves to manage energy conservation and should be useful for laptop owners as it allows you to choose between maximum performance (and consumption) and longer battery life.
There are no new features in this beta. Fixed 6 bugs, which can be found in the Release Notes.
