Samsung Electronics unveils microprocessor that the company plans to use in digital TVs. In fact, this is not even a microprocessor, but a system-on-a-chip (SoC) built using the ARM 920T core, operating at a clock frequency of 200 MHz and having the ability to transmit and receive data at a speed of 100 Mbps.

The processor has integrated peripheral modules that perform the functions of an input-output controller, data reception-transmission, MCU, plus a certain amount of DRAM and flash memory.

As the company believes, not without reason, all of the above functions will be vital in new generation digital TVs, capable not only of receiving DTV programs, but also being a means of accessing the Internet or performing the functions of an e-commerce site.
