Cybermedics took over the US military

There have been reports that the U.S. Armed Forces Research Laboratory (U.S. Army Research Laboratory) presented to the office of the US Deputy Secretary of Defense a project to develop a new biometric device designed to determine the mental and physical condition of military personnel in the field.

The Pocket Readiness Assessment Tool will be developed by Cybernet Medical, known for its biometric monitoring technologies and medical diagnostic devices, as part of the first phase of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) project.

The Readiness Assessment Tool will be developed on the basis of the existing biometric developments of Cybernet Medical, used in medical devices, in particular, by MedStar. In addition to measuring standard biometric data – heart rate and blood pressure, the device will also record the body’s response to a series of simple questions such as “How do you feel??”or” Don’t get tired?”The answer, or rather the reaction of the body to the question, is interpreted according to certain mathematical algorithms in the assessment of the mental and physical state of a soldier.

According to reports from Cybernet Medical, the Readiness Assessment Tool is designed to maintain a kind of “patient history”. In relation to military personnel, this means the accumulation of data on the state of the body for a long time. Subsequently, it is planned to add to such monitoring deeper field observations of the psyche and nervous system of the military.

It’s great, but, nevertheless, all this is too reminiscent of an “advanced” version of a lie detector, a specific focus. On the other hand, the surging fantasy suggests options for using such a device in our conference, because sometimes the heat of passions causes concern for the mental balance of some individuals. 🙂
