Mitsubishi Electric announced its agreement to license its latest technology developments to Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor. According to the signed Memorandum of Understanding, Mitsubishi will provide Powerchip with developments for the production of DRAM chips with 0.10 micron process technology standards. Powerchip intends to implement this technology in a new 300mm silicon wafer factory currently under construction, which will begin pilot production in the fourth quarter of 2021 and mass production in the second half of next year. Planned production volumes – 35 thousand platters per month, the main product type – 512 Mbit and 1 Gbit DRAM chips.
