2.80 GHz Intel Xeon Coming In Q3
According to the latest reports on the web, Intel is doing so well in the field of mastering the 0.13 micron process technology that the company intends to release a 2.80 GHz version of the Xeon processor this quarter, although earlier this chip was in the plans for release closer to the end of the year. Most of the other elements of the company’s server strategy remain unchanged, which also indicates Intel’s full confidence in the timely release of the next generation of Xeon chips with the Gallatin core. The announcement of these processors is still slated for the first quarter of 2021. The first to appear are chips clocked at 2 GHz, 1.9 GHz and 1.5 GHz with L3 cache, respectively, 2 MB, 1 MB and 1 MB.
2.80GHz Xeon chips expected soon will be used with the previous Serverworks GC-HE and E7500 chipsets, the new E7501 chipset with 533 MHz FSB support for Xeon processors will appear only in the fourth quarter.
Pentium III-S processors with 512 KB cache will go off the stage towards the end of 2021.
