TSMC is going to release 65nm chips by 2021-2021
Immediately following the announcement of the 90nm TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.) announced that it was going to release 65-nm (0.065 micron) chips by 2021-2021.
As we already wrote, TSMC announced its plans to start production of 90nm chips using the CMOS process in the second-third quarter of 2021. In order for the factories of the company to be able to produce 65-nm chips, the company is going to use several completely new and not even fully tested technologies.
Among the new systems that TSMC plans to use will be ALD (atomic layer deposition) and the next generation of lithography (NGL) tools. The company says it will also need 157nm scanners and electron-beam projection lithography (EPL) to implement 65nm processes.
