Sharp Electronics announced the creation of a new Solar Systems Division headquartered in Huntington Beach, California. The new division of the company will be engaged in the development, production and sale of cells, modules and systems for generating electricity from solar energy.
Sharp intends to start selling crystal-structured solar cells in-house within the first year of Solar Systems Division operations, according to Ron Kenedi, general manager of the new division. The energy sources will be designed for residential, commercial and industrial applications.
