Gently pry this connector from the socket using your fingernails on the corners. I would refrain from pulling the cable itself if possible. Trident Returns to the Discrete Graphics Market?

Renowned Trident is gearing up to return to the desktop graphics market with a new chip to be unveiled within the next month, CNet reports.

Nothing stunning, according to preliminary data, is being prepared: cards on the new chip will be comparable in performance with the current mid-range models from other manufacturers, the price for such products will be set from $ 70 and above.

According to CNet’s announcement that the chip will contain about 30 million. transistors, it can be assumed that the new product from Trident will be akin to the Trident XP4 graphics chip presented by it in April for mobile PCs (see. our news for April 16).

Recall the brief characteristics of XP4: full hardware support for DirectX 8.1, power consumption less than 3W, about 30 million. transistors, 0.13 micron CMOS process technology. Mobile XP4 is part of a family of discrete graphics chips with a clock speed of 250 MHz, 128-bit memory interface and support for DDR chips with a clock speed of up to 666 MHz. Now, in addition to the discrete version, two more integrated chips of the XP4 series are being produced: XP4m16 and XP4m32, equipped with built-in multi-chip-modules (MCM) of memory with a capacity of 16 and 32 MB, respectively.

Mobile XP4 supports four video output methods: TFT, DVI, CRT and TV out, resolution – up to 2048 x 1536 (QXGA) and TV-out with resolution up to 1024 x 768 (SXGA).

It is very likely that after the launch of the mobile version of XP4 in May, the company intends to present its version for desktop PCs. However, it is also possible that the new chip will have some new specific features.
